WebWinds has the ability to display data that is referenced to geographic
coordinates (latitude and longitude) in several different projections in
applications such as Image.
The "Menu" button in Image offers several
choices under the "Projections" option. The default choice, "None", does
not apply any projection transformation to the axes. Often this means that
the default projection is rectangular. Other choices are "Mercator", "Polar
Stereographic" (North and South pole centered) "Mollweide" and a "Sinusiodal"
projection.
Note that tick marks will be computed in projected space. Grids
will also be drawn in projected space; they will not necessarily be orthogonal.
Grids will not be drawn on areas with "No data" pixel values. They will
be drawn over "Missing Data," so specify "No Data" for area outside the
image and "Missing Data" for holes inside it.
