NASA FLAGRO v2 History
The earlier version of FLAGRO, FLAGRO4, was the primary analysis tool used by Rockwell International and the Shuttle subcontractors for fracture control analysis on the Space Shuttle. NASA/FLAGRO is an enhanced version of the program and incorporates state-of-the-art improvements in both fracture mechanics and computer technology.
Enhancements to the previous release of NASA/FLAGRO include:
- improved stress intensity factor solutions
- an improved fatigue crack growth equation
- the expansion of the material properties file by 300%
- a more general definition of load spectrum as a schedule combining blocks
- an ability to apply partial or fractional load cycles
- an option to plot "a vs. N" data during safe-life analysis
- the addition of sustained stress (da/dt) life analysis for glass
- the capability to run in a session or batch mode in addition to interactive mode
- the addition of boundary element method for stresses and stress intensity factors
- the addition of weight function methods to analyze cracks with nonlinear stresses
- an improved user interface with the ability to correct input errors by moving back step by step
